Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet community located in The West Island of Montreal is what you might call a "sleepy" place. The West Island can be confusing to people unfamiliar to its significance. It is often believed that it's an island to the that lies west of Montreal however it's actually the West Island encompasses everything between the cities that are Lachine as well as West. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on the West Island. But this isn't the truth. Brugel was raised in Courtice, just outside of Oshawa. Her initial ambition was to be an actor, However, following a dramatic increase in size, her friends could no longer dance along with her. The article she wrote about her experience revealed written by the Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall when wearing heels. As I grew older than my male friends, I quit. A lot of former dancers go on to acting, and in Brugel's situation, it was a suggestion from an instructor in drama at high school that encouraged her to go in that direction. She was recommended by a teacher to get a role for school's annual play. She auditioned and was cast as Anne of Green Gables. She was awarded a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to attend York University's Theatre Program, where she graduated in 2000 with a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts. In the past 20 years, Brugel's work been seen on both the small and large screen. The most notable was her fame when she was offered the character of Rita in the acclaimed television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel, the only Canadian on the season 1 cast of the show and seen only occasionally, was the only Canadian.
